Plank Road Recognizes the Jones School with an Award

The Plank Road Folk Music Society awarded the Jones Family School a plaque in recognition of contributions to folk music in the western suburbs of Chicago. The ceremony took place at the Log Cabin in Lombard during the society's annual meeting in January 2009 during a pickin' party with society members. Also recognized was Marianne Mohrhusen, the society's past president and tireless advocate for folk music, notably as caller for the organization's barn dances at the Two Way Street Coffeehouse. Carol Sommer was given a thank you for generous hospitality in hosting house concerts and society get-togethers, and as an officer and board member.  Special recognition was given Juel Ulven for the many years of dedication as director of the Fox Valley Folklore Society and organizer of the annual Fox Valley Folk Festival.
